Have you ever worked somewhere where it just seemed like everyone was out to get each other? Where people were just unhappy to be at work? A positive change in culture is possible.

A large part of organizational culture is the way employees interact with each other. We are here to help you ensure these interactions remain positive and beneficial to the growth of your organization. We’ll discuss proven ways to transform the culture in your organization for the better!

  • 28 TCOLE credit hours (for attendees from Texas)

  • Certificate of Completion

  • Lodging for 4 nights

  • All meals (beginning with dinner on Sunday and ending with lunch on Thursday)

  • Ranch Activities (optional horseback riding, access to swimming pool, live music)

  • Single-occupancy rooms (no shared rooms)


SCHEDULE

  • Arrive at the Mayan Ranch by 5:00 p.m.. and get settled in your room. 5:00 p.m. introduction session in the conference room. Refreshments from 5:45 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. Dinner begins at 7:00 p.m.

  • Breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Classes will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with a break for lunch. Refreshments from 5:45 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. Dinner begins at 7:00 p.m.

  • Breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Classes will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with a break for lunch. Refreshments from 5:45 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. Dinner begins at 7:00 p.m.

  • Breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Classes will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with a break for lunch and optional horseback riding. Refreshments from 5:45 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. Dinner begins at 7:00 p.m.

  • Breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Classes will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Lunch is from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Depart the ranch.

MEET YOUR FACILITATORS

 
  • Tina, Director of Aurora911 in Colorado, has led her team out from under the organizational structure of the Aurora Police Department. Tina and her team have identified their Core Values and created expectations of behavior which support a healthy team environment. The cumulative result of the group’s efforts is a dramatically improved culture and highly engaged leadership team. The center has seen a drastic reduction in turnover, and they have become a nationally recognized team.

  • Erin is currently the Executive Director of WESTCOMM, a regional emergency communications center in western Massachusetts. Erin was the first employee at WESTCOMM and built it from the ground up. She continuously researches information about creating a positive culture and keeps the topic at the forefront of conversations with her team. Her staff is empowered with the ability to stop out of bounds behavior in the moment, even if it comes from someone that outranks them. Erin is most proud of creating a professional development plan for retention and advancement in the 9-1-1 profession.

  • Robbie, Deputy Director at Cobb County Department of Emergency Communications, has had many accomplishments since becoming Deputy Director. Her center went from a 52% vacancy to an 18% vacancy. They hired 52 employees in one year! They have had 8 employees return to the center in the past 24 months because of the positive changes in culture. The two accomplishments that she is most proud of implementing in her center are The Professional Development Process and The Supervisor and Manager Workshops.

  • Amy is the former Operations Manager for Sugar Land Public Safety Dispatch in TX. She has over 16 years of experience in 911 operations. During her tenure at Sugar Land, she revamped the recruiting and hiring process with the goal of focusing on attitude instead of skill. She helped to cultivate a center of excellence and maintained a culture of love and support in the workplace. She is passionate about leadership, teamwork, and helping to create positive and uplifting working environments.

  • Tyler is Emergency Communications Director for South Metro Fire Rescue in Centennial, Colorado. Tyler has held ranks of Dispatcher, Lead Dispatcher, Supervisor, and Operations Manager. Having held every position within the center, he understands employee needs while continuing to develop technology and expand training opportunities for staff. Tyler believes his role is to facilitate employee success through a positive, supportive environment.

  • Chris is Emergency Communications Operations Manager for South Metro Fire Rescue in Centennial, Colorado. Chris moved through the ranks at South Metro from Dispatcher, Lead Dispatcher, Supervisor, Training Supervisor, and Manager. Spanning several of his roles in the communications center, Chris has provided opportunities to his dispatchers for growth and advancement both inside and outside the center.

  • Joe Serio, Ph.d, is the founder of The 360 Dispatcher and was co-founder of The Healthy Dispatcher. He is the lead instructor in the 9-1-1 Supervisor Leadership Academy. Joe is the co-author of Dispatcher Stress: 50 Lessons on Beating the Burnout and holds a Ph.D. in criminal justice with a specialization in leadership and organizational behavior.
