Joe’s Background:

Dr. Joe SerioLike you, leadership expert and author Dr. Joe Serio has seen the word leadership defined numerous ways over the years. Is it a position at the top of an organization? Is it the ability to make decisions? Does it pertain to just a small part of an organization’s employees?

With over three decades of speaking, leadership training, and, most importantly, real-life experience, Dr. Joe’s view is radically different. He appreciates, and shares with audiences, that leadership is about the integrity and daily choices made by each person in an organization. It’s about taking full responsibility for one’s decisions and actions. Leadership develops from the inside out.

Investigating the Russian MafiaKnown for his work investigating the Russian Mafia—he worked with the Soviet national police and was director of the Moscow office of the world’s leading corporate investigation and business intelligence firm—Dr. Joe brings a unique approach to his conference keynotes and leadership training programs, using stories from around the world, humor, and live music to deliver thought-provoking and life-changing presentations. He also brings the latest leadership research and best practices to his training and conference keynotes.

Prior to launching Law Enforcement Development Training, Dr. Joe earned his Ph.D. in Criminal Justice with a specialization in Leadership and Organizational Behavior. He was editor-in-chief of the popular magazine, Crime and Justice International, and coordinator of the U.S. Department of State’s International Law Enforcement Academy in Roswell, New Mexico. While in Moscow, he served as co-chair of the security committee of the American Chamber of Commerce and helped produce three documentaries for A&E’s Investigative Reports.

Dr. Joe is the creator of the Get the Nerve™ Series of books, including Time Management: 50 Lessons on Finding Time for What’s Important, Overcoming Fear: 50 Lessons on Being Bold and Living the Dream, and Public Speaking: 50 Lessons on Presenting Without Losing Your Cool. He is also the co-founder of The Healthy Dispatcher, a training company dedicated to dispatcher training with leadership and wellness programs.
