It’s all about results

What results are you getting?Hand writing New Mindset New Results with black marker on transparent wipe board.

You might ask, “At what?” It doesn’t matter. Your relationships, your career, your weight, your communication, your life.

You can tell a lot by your results. If you’re not getting the results you want, it may be time to change what you’re doing.

It may be time to stop complaining, criticizing, gossiping, and blaming others for your life.

Are you getting the results you want in order to have the life you want? Yes or no?

If the answer is no, it’s time to do something else.

In order to have something you’ve never had, you have to do something you’ve never done.

The money is all that matters (yes, I said it)

Are you making more than you spend?

Instead of living overseas as I did in my 20s and 30s, or being in a university setting as I was in my 40s, I’m now a member of the entrepreneurial class, with all the wonderful freedoms and fears that brings.

As such, I’ve been exposed to the dialogues of entrepreneurs as they occur on Facebook, at networking gatherings, and in articles. An area of near-daily preoccupation is what it takes to be successful. Of course, this preoccupation is highly justified, given the delicate, precarious, and unpredictable nature of our way of life.

Some ways to do this are writing a great resume or getting a promotion, as I wrote in recent blogs. But there are other things you can do that you may not be thinking about. [Read more…]

How do I save for emergencies and get over my shopping addiction?

shopping addiction, get out of debt, save for retirement, emergency fund, save money, get out of debt, joe serio, get the nerve, get the nerve to succeed

Q&A is something I’m now doing weekly in this blog. Here’s a great question I received that I know other people have as well:

Inevitably, when I build up a small amount of savings, I end up using it for life’s little emergencies and cannot seem to build up a decent emergency fund.  In addition, I struggle with a moderate shopping addiction.  Any suggestions on addressing this destructive habit and building an emergency fund?

Let’s first talk about your emergency fund. I’d like you to ask yourself if “life’s little emergencies” are really things that you had no idea would happen, like emergency surgery, or if they are things that come up infrequently, like needing new tires. [Read more…]
